Explosion Destruction

A 2D platforming game set in the future. You play as a rebel spy who has infiltrated an automated factory that encompasses an entire planet, up to and including its core. Your task was to set off a bomb in its center, and now you must escape its explosive destruction. Use the environment, your power suit, tools and weapons to navigate the factory and get to safety.

Your power suit not only protects you from the hazards of the environment, but also grants you enhanced movement. Jump, power slide, and wall kick your way through the map.

Each weapon not only deals damage, but also can be used to compliment your suit’s movement capabilities. Rockets and grenades can propel you over obstacles. Recoil from shooting backwards will boost your speed forward, and downward will slow your fall.

A raging fire follows you around the map and is your greatest potential enemy. Getting too close will damage you, so keep your distance and maintain your speed. Fuel dotted around the map will be consumed by the fire, increasing how quickly it spreads.

Project Details

A small project, developed over the course of three weeks in 2021 with a three person team to test the concept of a game with an old shooter arena feel in a 2D world, with speed as a focal point.

I led a small team and was responsible for implementing most systems and designing the core gameplay. I also worked on character animation and map design.
